Kadin launches four quick-win programs to support government

Jakarta – The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) said it has rolled out four quick-win programs to support the government’s priority agendas in the areas of the economy, health, employment, and housing.”We immediately consolidated all of Kadin’s strengths and launched four quick-win programs to boost the economy because of their significant impact,” Kadin Chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie said during a meeting between Kadin entrepreneurs from the central and regional levels and President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta on Friday.

He said the four programs were selected for their potential to generate broad and meaningful impacts on the national economy.

The first program is the Gotong Royong Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Task Force. To date, Kadin has contributed through 866 MBG kitchens, with 128 of them located in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) areas.

Kadin prioritized the program based on UNICEF research showing that every US dollar invested in nutrition generates a multiplier effect on the economy.

The second program is the Free Health Check-up (PKG) Task Force. In support of this program, the organization launched a white paper titled “Health Is the New Wealth,” outlining the health sector’s potential economic value at around Rp670 trillion (US$36 billion).

Furthermore, Kadin is running a program to protect and strengthen the capacity of Indonesian migrant workers.

According to Bakrie, the program targets approximately 208,000 migrant workers through certification and competency training, while increasing the country’s foreign exchange earnings.

Meanwhile, the fourth program focuses on renovating uninhabitable houses to support the government’s three million housing program.

Bakrie said the housing sector offers a significant multiplier effect on the economy and has the potential to create up to 19 million jobs.

He added that the programs encourage broader participation by businesses, including those outside major cities, in helping implement the government’s development agenda.

“Even in remote areas, businesses have the opportunity to participate in the economic programs launched by the president,” he said.
